Panasonic’s full-frame Lumix cameras use the L-mount, which Panasonic shares with Sigma and Leica. That alliance matters more for the holy trinity than for anything else, because Panasonic’s own lens line has a hole in it. There’s a Lumix f/2.8 standard zoom and a Lumix f/2.8 telephoto zoom. There’s no Lumix f/2.8 wide zoom.

So the L-mount trinity is a mixed set by default. Here’s how to build it, and when a lighter Lumix lens makes more sense.

Sony E-Mount Holy Trinity: The Three G Master F2.8 Zooms and a Lighter G Alternative

Every full-frame system has a “holy trinity”: a wide zoom, a standard zoom and a telephoto zoom, all at f/2.8, covering roughly 16mm to 200mm with no gaps. On Sony E-mount the trinity is three G Master lenses, and all three are second-generation designs. That makes Sony’s set the lightest pro trinity you can buy for any full-frame mirrorless system.

It isn’t cheap. At launch prices the three lenses add up to about $7,400. Before you spend that, it’s worth knowing what each one does and where a smaller lens does the job.

Nikon Z Holy Trinity: The New S II Zooms Make Nikon's F2.8 Set the One to Beat

For a few years Nikon’s pro zooms were the heaviest of the big three. That changed in under a year. Nikon replaced its 24-70mm f/2.8 S in August 2025 and its 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S in February 2026, and both new versions are much lighter, focus faster and zoom internally. Paired with the 14-24mm f/2.8 S, they make a trinity that matches Sony’s G Master set on weight and beats it on features.

Sigma and Tamron Holy Trinity for Sony E-Mount: Three F2.8 Zooms for Less Than Half the G Master Price

Sony opened its E-mount to other lens makers early, and that decision shaped the whole system. In Japan, Tamron was the biggest-selling interchangeable lens brand of 2025 in BCN’s point-of-sale data, ahead of Sigma and then Sony itself. A lot of those sales are f/2.8 zooms, bought by people who wanted the trinity without the G Master bill.

There are two ways to build one. Tamron’s set is the lightest and cheapest. Sigma’s set is closer to G Master in reach and build. Both land somewhere around $3,000 to $4,100 for three lenses, against about $7,400 for Sony’s own.

Fujifilm X-Mount Holy Trinity: XF 8-16mm, 16-55mm II and 50-140mm F2.8, Plus a Lighter Set

Fujifilm built its reputation on primes, but it has had a full f/2.8 zoom trinity for X-mount since 2018. On APS-C, the three red-badge zooms cover the full-frame equivalent of 12mm to 213mm at f/2.8. That’s the same coverage a wedding or event pro gets from a full-frame trinity, in a system that’s meant to be smaller.

Only one of the three has been redesigned for Fuji’s 40MP sensors. That changes which ones are worth buying.

Canon RF Holy Trinity: The L-Series F2.8 Zooms, the Cheaper STM Pair and the F4 Set

On Canon’s full-frame RF mount, picking a holy trinity is simpler than on Sony, for an awkward reason. Sigma and Tamron make RF lenses only for Canon’s APS-C bodies. As of 2026 there’s no full-frame third-party f/2.8 zoom for RF at all. If you want a trinity on an R5 Mark II, R6 Mark III or R8, Canon makes every piece of it.

The good news is that Canon now makes three different trinities, at three very different prices.
